deugro Danmark A/S is proud to announce being awarded the transport for the Whitelee Wind Farm in Scotland, which is the largest onshore Wind Farm in Europe. The Wind Farm consists of 140 x 2,3 MW wind turbines complete with towers, which will be situated near the town of Eaglesham, South of Glasgow.
deugro's scope is the transport of complete wind turbines from Denmark along with one-third of the towers from Germany up to the so-called erection pad at the site in Scotland. Deliveries will commence in October 2007 and will be completed in the beginning of 2009. As part of the logistics concept, a heavy lift vessel and a gearless coaster will be employed for the seafreight portion whereas specialized trucking equipment for carrying wind turbine shall perform the deliveries to site. The supervision and coordination in ports of loading as well as on destination will be done by the deugro project team specialized in the field of transporting wind turbines.
Since the opening of the office in Herning, Denmark in 2003, deugro Denmark has successfully delivered several large wind turbine projects to the UK, and to various destinations worldwide. deugro Denmark has been involved in the planning phase of this Whitelee project since 2003, so this nomination is very much another milestone for deugro's activities in Scotland.
